It was just a little after noon, and Bellamy was walking through Calitha Forest on his way to Route 1. He wasn't sure where he was going, but he knew that the the only way to get anywhere was through the forest. He had spent enough time in Calitha - so much, in fact, that he decided he needed to get away for a bit. Besides, he was sure there was a hell of a lot more field experience to be had in the rest of Obstina.
He was all bundled up and content with a cup of to-go coffee tight in his grip. He had added chocolate creamer to the beverage to make it take more like a dessert than an addiction. He was alone, for now, because his Pokemon were away. Munna and Fletchling were in their Pokeballs, and Vanillite was stored away in the PC system. He was still considering what to do with that one - he didn't care for it particularly, and he was debating between learning to care for it and finding a better living arrangement for the tiny ice Pokemon, even if that meant releasing it.
As he pondered, he began to tune out the noises of the forest around him that was teaming with life. Although his Pokemon were away in their balls, he was not truly alone, one could say.

As he walked along by himself, there was a rustle in the bushes that snapped Bellamy out of his daydream-esque thinking. He stopped abruptly, not walking to walk any forward until he saw what was going to come waltzing out of the snow-covered foliage. He'd heard on the radio that some Pokemon were swarming in this forest, and he especially hoped he wasn't about to encounter a hoard.
To his surprise, though, a lone Growlithe came out at him. His behavior looked playful at best, and mischievous at worst. "Hey, boy. You look a little cold out here." Jordan obviously knew that Growlithe could warm their body temperature to keep themselves comfortable in even the harshest conditions, but he thought it would sound playful. The dog's bark in response was a bit intimidating, but it wasn't enough to throw off Bellamy. He reached for a Pokeball on his belt clip, deciding this Growlithe was worth a shot. "How about a battle, huh? You look like you want to play. C'mon, Munna!"
The floating Psychic type Pokemon burst out in light, and the Growlithe was immediately crouched down, set to pounce. Bellamy called for Munna to use Defense Curl as Growlithe stared her down, using his own Leer attack. When the tiger-striped Pokemon leaped into the air baring its teeth, the young researcher immediately knew that Munna wouldn't last long in this fight if a Bite attack landed. "Dodge it, and then use Psywave!"
Munna floated upward and just out of her opponent's attack range. Before Growlithe's paws could return to the Earth, Munna was blasting pink and blue colored rings at the wild Growlithe. The passed over his body, as if he were jumping through hoops, and were causing some pain and discomfort by the grimace on the Pokemon's face. As he landed, the Growlithe looked a bit winded, and Bellamy decided his opponent was sufficiently weakened. He'd never actually captured a Pokemon, after all, so he didn't know exactly what he was doing. But he threw his Pokeball at the wild Fire type anyway and hoped for the best.

Bellamy ran over to grab the Pokeball once it had stopped shaking. "Fantastic work, Munna," he called out behind him to thank his special partner. With her help, he had just successfully captured his first Pokemon. And it was a Growlithe - imagine that! He clipped the minimized Pokeball to himself, excited to have time later to release his Growlithe and get know it better while also studying its behavior. "Well, this little walk through the forest isn't so bad after all."
Or maybe he had spoken too soon. Because it wasn't long after they had continued their walk that another Pokemon crossed their path. Or rather, it did not cross their path. The Nidoran had fallen asleep under the snow and Bellamy did not see it before he accidentally stepped down on it. He yelped in pain with an "Ow!", startling his Munna. Looking down, he saw what he had stepped on and panic immediately set in. The Nidoran was stirring, being violently awaken by the young man's stomp. All the researcher could think about, though, was whether or not he had just inadvertently poisoned himself.
The Nidoran was not taking too kindly to having been disturbed, and turned his angry sights on Bellamy. Munna called out, trying to warn her trainer. "Munna use Psy... Psyducks are typically found in..." he trailed off, becoming slightly delirious from the trace amounts of poison entering his system. The Nidoran was preparing to Peck Bellamy, but Munna wasn't going to let that happen. She used Psywave on the Nidoran, hoping to scare it off for good. The attack did some harm and left the Nidoran weak thanks to type advantage. As it turned its new sights on Munna, the thing jumped into the air after the pink Pokemon, connecting with a peck attack.
Nidoran went back for another Peck but Munna countered with a Defense Curl. The two Pokemon were having it out while Munna just hoped her trainer could get it together long enough to help her out in this situation. Meanwhile, Bellamy was looking through his pack for an Antidote and coming to the sad realization that he did not have one. He was beginning to sweat, despite the freezing temperatures, and knew that he would, reluctantly, he would have to turn around and go back to Calitha for help from the Pokemon Center. His really great day had just taken the worst possible turn. And to top it off, Nidoran had just grounded Munna with yet another Peck attack. With no guidance, Munna was losing this battle. Fast.
"Oh, no you don't, you..." he trailed off again, beginning to lose the strength to keep talking. He threw a Pokeball at the wild Pokemon, hoping to either keep it from attacking his Munna by capturing it or scaring it away. Whichever happened first would suffice. In any case, once the Nidoran was dealt with, he would use the last of his strength to release Fletchling from his Pokeball. The bird Pokemon erupted from the Pokeball into the sky, flying much higher than Munna, who was now levitating again, could ever hope to float.
Looking up at the both of them, he said in a decibel just over a whisper, "Get help." The two Pokemon went off in the same direction to find some sort of assistance for their trainer.

"Torchic, use Ember!" Alexis commanded, pointing at the remnants of a bush that had long since withered away after the winter started. Unfortunately for her, the tiny chick Pokemon was doing everything but listening. He happily stomped about, excited at the prospect of being able to explore the world outside of Hickory's ranch, and traveling through the region with a trainer, no less! Torchic was finding pleasure in having his very own partner to try his many antics on. Just as Alexis had been filling out the lab's paperwork to be able to take him with her, he had, erm, accidentally (not really) burned a hole through the leg of her pants, much to his trainer's chagrin. Now, his current source of amusement was attempting to play dumb with his trainer as she tried to work with him. Who wanted to do work, anyway? For Torchic, life was all about playing around. Alexis let out a drawn-out sigh, which quickly condensed and turned white in the freezing air. She was only a few hours in to officially being a Pokemon trainer, but it seemed as if everything was going wrong for her. It would be just her luck to get a Pokemon that refused to listen to her. Perhaps with time she could condition it to obey her every command, like every good trainer should. "Torchic, use Ember!" she repeated, her voice taking on a stronger tone. Her Pokemon responded by letting out a long wisp of flame - straight in Alexis's direction. "H-hey!" the girl jumped back, not wanting to be burned, "I didn't want you to use it on me!" In response Torchic let out an innocent little chirp, inwardly giggling at his own cleverness. This was going to be a long journey. Just then, Munna and Fletchling approached the pair, both moving frantically. Having seen Alexis and Torchic, they seemed to be desperate for them to do something. Interested, Alexis tried to understand what the pair were trying to tell her as Torchic leapt into her arms, sensing that there was some sort of danger around. "Is there something you want me to see?" she asked, keeping her cool and calm demeanor as always. Growl / Scratch / Ember 00/15

Fletchling, from up above, had been the first to spot the Torchic and his trainer. He chirped in the air, alerting Munna that they needed to go just a bit due east to find help. The two would approach the brown-haired researcher in no time, given the pace they were moving at; the urgency was apparent.
When they arrived at Alexis's training site, they frantically cried out and made erratic movements in hopes that she would catch on to what they were saying. Unfortunately, communicating with strangers was never as easy as communicating with one's own trainer was. Between Munna's bellows and Fletchling's chirps, neither Pokemon was sure that the person standing before them was understanding that their trainer was in a potentially very serious situation just a few meters away.
Deciding that it might have a better chance getting through to Torchic who could then get through to his trainer, Fletchling began to talk directly at the fire chick Pokemon. He said that his trainer had been poisoned, and was beginning to get sick. We need help, he chirped finally, waiting for Torchic to try communicating the message. Munna and Fletchling were ready to lead the wake back to Bellamy, but they needed to know they would have Alexis's help first.
Meanwhile, back at the battle site, Bellamy was making poor examples of snow angels. His skin was burning up, and the snow felt good against his body so he wanted it over all of his body. He could hardly stay up on his feet, so his only option now was to wait on his Pokemon to bring help of some form. This was an early test of how much trust he was ready to instill in his team.

Climbing up to perch on his trainer's shoulder, Torchic listened carefully to what the Fletchling was trying to say. At first, he was excited to have new friends to play with, but he quickly realized that this wasn't a time for games. He listened intently as the bird Pokemon told him about his poisoned Trainer and asked for their help. Torchic mulled the situation over for an instant. The two Pokemon standing before them seemed to be pretty serious, especially since they had mentioned a poisoned individual. Looking up at his trainer, he chirped in a concerned tone, attempting to get Alexis to understand the importance of the situation. Although Alexis was practically raised inside a Pokemon Center, her knowledge regarding medicine was... lacking, to say the least. She had a basic idea of what items could heal certain conditions when it came to Pokemon. Treating people, on the other hand, was a different story. However, from what she had gleamed from the conversation between the creatures before her, there was somebody, or something, that desperately needed some form of help. At the same time, Alexis didn't have time to deal with this - she had her own problems; namely, trying to train her Torchic into becoming a prime battling machine. "Leave it alone, Torchic," she stated blandly, crossing her arms, "It's really none of our business. Besides, somebody else is bound to help them anyway..."
Frustrated at his trainer's lack of action, Torchic leapt off of Alexis's shoulder and chirped angrily. It was clear that he was determined to help these two Pokemon out, either with or without his trainer's assistance. Sighing, Alexis seemed to have no choice but to give in. "Fine, fine," she rolled her eyes, "We can help them, I guess."

After rolling around in the snow, Bellamy looked up to see the Pokeball he'd thrown at Nidoran still shaking violently. The Pokemon that had poisoned him seemed to be putting up quite the struggle to release himself from the ball and return to life in the wild, where he'd be free to poison again. The blonde researcher started to crawl over to the Pokeball, a half-grin plastered to his face as sweat dripped down from his forehead, stinging his eyes.
He lied down on top of the Pokeball, trying to make it physically impossible for the ball to open up and release Nidoran. He started to chuckle at his own genius, delirious and unable to rationally tell himself that this was not how Pokeballs worked. Nonetheless, the Pokeball stopped shaking and made a noise that let him know the capture was successful. He called out "Aha!" just as Munna and Fletchling came back into his sights from wherever they had been. "I did it," he said, sounding like he'd been drinking, "the thing is mine now and the ball has it." He held up his Pokeball to show his Pokemon their new teammate, and Bellamy realized for the first time that his Pokemon had not come back alone.
"Look out," he said, trying to point to the woman behind them but missing, instead pointing at a forest tree covered in snow. "There's someone over there."
His eyelids got heavy and his vision began to fade. Just like that, he was out like a light. Burning up despite the temperature and drenched in his own sweat, Bellamy's poisoning was taking a turn for the worse. Munna and Fletchling looked at Alexis, hoping that she could now see how desperate they were for her help. Hopefully, Torchic's trainer would know what to do for theirs.
