"IN MY WORLD THERE IS NO PLACE FOR WEAKLINGS LIKE YOU." | Bellamy Jordan | 317 Words | tba ?? |
"The things I do..." Alexis mumbled under her breath as she jogged to catch up with the three Pokemon rushing towards Bellamy. It didn't take long for the group to reach the researcher collapsed on the snow. Torchic was the first to scurry up to him, pecking the man's arm to make sure that he was alright and responsive. He chirped incessantly at his Trainer, seemingly begging her to do something to help this poor guy out. If he didn't get help soon, he might... Nobody wanted to consider that possibility right now. With the nimble skill and eerie calm of somebody who had gone through this before, Alexis gently grabbed Bellamy by the shoulders and began dragging him towards the entrance of the forest, back into town, where they could go to the Pokemon Center and an actual professional could treat his poisoning. She almost felt bad at the fact that she had to drag the poor guy through the snow, but at the same time, one couldn't expect a girl almost a foot shorter than him to be able to pick him up. Torchic followed his Trainer, hoping that the person she was helping would be alright and that he and his newly found friends would be able to play soon. Not even this naughty chick Pokemon could be expected to play games when somebody seriously needed medical attention. As Alexis got closer and closer to Calitha Town's Pokemon Center, her arms began to ache with the fatigue of a weightlifter who had tried to carry more than he could possibly bear. Still, she pressed on, determined to get Bellamy healed as quickly as possible. It wasn't like she cared or anything; she just didn't want to be responsible for somebody dying just because of her negligence. Or, at least, that's what she tried to tell herself as the white building loomed closer and closer.

As he sat in the Pokemon Center and began to open his eyes after some time, Bellamy blinked awake to find standing over him Munna, Fletchling, Nurse Joy, and a woman and Torchic he did not know. He began to sit up, feeling physically drained but able to do so. He was a little warm, but not terribly hot; his head throbbed. "Don't move too fast, now," Nurse Joy warned, "if you take it nice and easy, you should be good to go in no time at all."
Fletchling flitted onto his shoulder and Munna nestled in his lap, them both happy to see their trainer doing much better. "What happened?" he asked no one in particular, but his eyes landed on the woman with the brown hair. Nurse Joy had already walked away to tend to the Pokemon in the center that needed her help. Jordan was left to try piecing together what had happened. "I remember battling with the Growlithe... And I caught it, right?" He looked at his side to confirm with himself that he had three Pokeballs attached to his hip. His head ached again when he saw a mysterious fourth. "But that's all," he paused, looking down at Munna who was yawning in his face (the excitement had drained her, too), "I can recall."
Looking back to the woman for a third time, he decided to ask outright. If anyone could tell him what had happened, he'd hoped it would be her. "I'm sorry, but can you tell me what happened?" Had he been attacked? Or was this as embarrassing as slipping on ice and hitting his own head? He needed to know, but for the life of him could not finish this story on his own.
Fletchling looked at Torchic, hoping to silently send his thanks.

As she waited for Bellamy to wake up, Alexis paced around the Pokemon Center impatiently. Not only had she been unable to make any progress training her Torchic, but she had gotten held up by being practically coerced into helping this random guy out. It seemed like everything was going against her while she was on the very first steps of her journey. When the man in the bed finally began to show some signs of life, she approached his hospital bed, where Torchic and the other Pokemon had already gathered. Bellamy finally waking up and asking her, "What happened?" made her bad mood begin to dwindle. Although you could never get her to admit it, she secretly felt relieved that this stranger would be alright. "Apparently," she said quietly, not wanting to meet his eyes, "you stepped on a Nidoran - you know, the kind that are poisonous. You were basically knocked out for a while, and your Pokemon asked for my help." She paused a bit, and then signaled to the PokeBalls at his waist. "You seem to have caught the Nidoran, too." Alexis turned away, hoping to disguise any possible expression she could be revealing on her face. "Nurse Joy said you're pretty lucky," she continued, not looking at any spot in particular, "It was only a minor sting. Like she said, you should be fine in a little while. It was your Pokemon," her eyes darted to glance at the Munna and Fletching resting on the man's body, "that alerted us of the situation, so thank them. And that's pretty much all that happened, right?" She turned once again to face the Pokemon for confirmation. Once she got what she perceived to be an adequate response, she turned back to the cushy chair at the corner of Bellamy's room to grab her things, then headed for the door. "Torchic, let's go," she said stoically. Unfortunately for Alexis, Torchic failed to listen to her. Instead, he leapt to Bellamy's bed and began bouncing on it and chirping loudly. He was still slightly worried about the other man's condition. Besides, he had also wanted to play with Munna and Fletchling. "I said, let's go," Alexis gritted her teeth, become frustrated with her Pokemon's bad behavior. Torchic defiantly ignored her, instead making his uninvited way into Bellamy's lap, where he butted his head into Munna's body playfully. All he wanted was a game.

As Alexis explained everything to him that had happened over the last couple hours, Bellamy sat quietly. He hadn't been exploring on his own long, and he'd already put himself in major jeopardy. He was going to have to be more careful in the future; next time, there might not be another trainer around to save his ass. The researcher was too old to be getting into predicaments like this, and he knew it. Looking down at the two new Pokeballs, he smirked just a bit at the fact that he'd still managed to catch the Nidoran. He couldn't even remember if he'd set out to catch the thing at first, but after this ordeal it only seemed fair that it was his now.
He looked up, preparing to ask the woman for her name so that he could thank her properly, but he saw that she was already collecting her belongings to leave. Now he worried that having to help him had been a major inconvenience. Most times, he would be annoyed with such a departure and consider it rude, but this time he only felt shamed for thinking of how much time he'd wasted of hers. "Well, thanks, you two," he took her suggestion, thanking his Pokemon. "And thank you too, Torchic," he said with a weak smile as the chick Pokemon sat on his bed. His trainer was calling for him, but instead Torchic moved closer to Bellamy, eventually coming into his lap and trying to start up a game with Munna. The psychic Pokemon was entirely too tired to indulge the bird, but Fletchling still seemed energetic enough to give it a shot. He swooped from his perch on Bellamy's shoulder, flapping beside Torchic and giving a playful peck before flying off, hoping Torchic would follow.
With all the commotion made by the Pokemon, Bellamy sat up even more now, hoping to take advantage of Torchic's disobedience. "You know," he started out, placing a hand on Munna for support, "I've thanked the Pokemon, but I'd like to thank you too. My name's Bellamy. What's yours?" he asked the younger girl, hoping he wasn't being a continued annoyance. He looked right at her round face, trying to convey sincerity through eye contact.
Through the window he could see that it was now probably late evening. When he struck out this morning it was early afternoon. It suddenly hit him just how much of the day he had lost, and how much of the day he had cost the young woman before him. "You don't have to tell me if you don't want to. I just want you to know that I really do appreciate what you did for me."

Alexis cocked an eyebrow as she watched Torchic play with his newfound friend. He had jumped from the hospital bed and had begun to chase Fletchling around the room, jumping and chirping wildly to try and catch his fellow bird Pokemon. His efforts was futile; Torchics couldn't fly, after all, and Fletchling was much faster on his wings than Torchic could be on his feet. Both of them made circles around the room as they played a makeshift game of tag. Alexis sighed. Her Pokemon was more than responsive when it came time to play, training on the other hand... she shook her head and focused on talking to Bellamy. "My name's Alexis. Alexis Sato," she said, shoving her hands into her pockets, "Next time, you should watch where you're stepping. There isn't always gonna be a Prince Charming to save you." She snickered quietly at her own comment, hoping to relieve some of the awkward silence in the room. "Anyway, Torchic and I were... glad to help, I guess. But we really have to get going now, if you don't mind."
Alexis unclipped her only PokeBall from her belt. "Torchic, return!" she commanded. Mid-jump, the chick was pulled back by a red light back into its ball, where it would seemingly have to wait a long while before he would get to play again. Pulling her bag over her straps, she started for the door, just wanting to put the entire situation behind her. It's not like any of this mattered, anyway. It was distracting her from training to be the Pokemon Champion, and she just wanted to set out to travel again. She could probably make it to the next down by midnight, if Bellamy had nothing more to say...

So Alexis was her name. Bellamy was just about to address her when she continued to speak, being a bit more snappy with him. She chastised him for not being more careful and let him know that next time someone - namely her - might not be around to save him. Although it was off-putting, she was right. The young man sat in his clinic bed, biting his tongue because he couldn't speak ill to the woman who had just saved his life, potentially.
"Have a good night," he called out as Alexis turned after returning Torchic to his Pokeball. Fletchling, with no one to play with now, returned to his perch of a trainer. With no further words to keep her there, Alexis would continue on her way right out the door. "Well, she was nice," Bellamy said, turning to Fletchling, unsure whether he meant it or not.
"You found a good helper."
