"CHARGE!!" Todd yelled as he took off into the forest, Trike following by his side. A happy bark left Trike as they ran into the the opening of the forest and while still on the path, they continued for a little bit at their current speed. Seeing that they were deep enough in after a few minutes, Todd paused and gave a sigh. Well it was nice to be out in the world now. Bending down, he picked up Trike and started walking again. "So you excited pal? You don't have to sit in that lab all day anymore." Todd said, Trike gave a bark in response. Todd gave a smile. It seemed that Trike was a very happy soul and that was a very good thing. After all, he'd be a poor trainer if his pokemon didn't even like him. For now he was just going to spend time bonding with Trike. Capturing new companions could wait till later. Bellamy Jordan

Having found a small open field where the sunshine above entered without obstruction from the surrounding bare branches, Bellamy Jordan took the time to rest. He had been walking around the forest all morning, and his arms were tired from carrying his recently found Pokemon egg with him. Although he knew that he really shouldn't have the egg out in this cold weather, he couldn't flake on his plans to make more field observations here in the forest. After his last stint in the wooded area had left him poison, he decided he could stand to learn a bit more about this area and its Pokemon.
For now, though, he was sitting in a relatively grassy spot, enjoying his second cup of coffee of the day. The steam from the foam cup was white in the air, and the vapor wrapped around his pointed red nose. The sound of bird Pokemon flapping overhead were easily identifiable, but it was the strange bark he heard that caught his attention. It was a bark unlike one he was familiar with, and it accompanied another sound that most closely resembled a human voice. With the passing of time, the sound got louder and was unmistakably human - and whoever it was happened to be getting closer.
Turning around to see who was about to happen upon him, Bellamy placed a hand on the egg and rubbed it to keep it warm. It wouldn't be long now until some ways away, a green quadruped would appear in the arms of a small person with red hair. Trainer and Pokemon, no doubt.

Picking Trike up a little later, the young lad kept walking though he took heed to hold Trike carefully. The young lad soon spied someone a little ways away in a small field, waving to em from the tree line, Todd set Trike down and started to make his way over to the person who somehow had coffee out there. Trike followed along quickly.
"Hello." Todd greeted, Trike stopped by the child's feet, giving a bark in greeting. "How'd you get coffee out here? I don't think there are any machines to make it here."
Probably not really a important thing to know but how, Todd was curious. Course the kid didn't drink the stuff.
(When the battle starts, I'll only use Trike as Todd gets his other pokemon in a later thread.)

As the tyke waved at him and continued to walk in his direction Bellamy prepared himself to engage in the social interaction. Whoever this was he was direct, walking right up to the researcher and inquiring about his coffee. Whatever admiration Bellamy had for his outgoing demeanor was soon tainted with just a hint of annoyance at what Jordan considered to be a dumb question. But he would not comment on it, because the boy was considerably younger than he was and he had to allow some shed of grace.
"Well," Bellamy began after taking another sip of his coffee, "I brought it with me. It was brewed this morning and I've kept it until now. It's still warm though, thankfully." Grabbing the egg with one arm and standing up only using his leg muscles, the blonde-haired came to his full standing height, now towering over the newcomer. Turning his attention to the Pokemon with the red-haired kid, Bellamy deduced that the barking he'd heard earlier was the Electrike standing before him now. "That's a pretty handsome Electrike you've got there," he said, bending over ever so slightly to get a better look at it. "It looks happy."
Standing back up, the researcher decided he should finally introduce himself. Something told him that this would not be a passing encounter, and as such the two trainers might as well acquaint themselves. "Bellamy Jordan," he said coolly. "I'd shake your hand, but my hands are a little full right now."

"Oh, I just thought that it would've gotten cold by now but it's not since it's still steaming." Todd answered.
Young people always had strange and silly thoughts, Todd certainly did. Trike watched the stranger as they stood up though they didn't do anything to em, just keeping an eye out. At the compliant, Trike gave a bark and Todd smiled.
"Thanks. He's really great." Todd said. "I was honestly nervous at first that he wouldn't be but I'm glad he is happy."
Deep down, Todd was still afraid that Trike wasn't happy but hearing someone say that he was happy made some of that fear go away. Really having his pokemon be happy was what mattered. They could lose every battle but it wouldn't matter, after all a good part of the blame for losing would be on him as he was the trainer not his pokemon.
"Todd Baxter." Todd introduced. "It's very nice to meet you Sir."

Bellamy nodded his head at Todd, hoping his nod would be taken as a 'nice to make your acquaintance.' "No 'sir' needed," Bellamy joked with Baxter. "And I'm no breeder, but from everything I know about Electrikes yours looks very healthy. And a healthy Pokemon is a happy Pokemon in most circumstances, right?"
Rubbing on his egg in an attempt to keep it warm, Jordan would look down at Baxter and give a half smile. "So, what brings you to the forest, if you don't mind me asking?" A wind blew through the meadow, and, with no trees to break the breeze, it stung against Bellamy's soft skin. His face was becoming just a little red, and he thought that if he kept talking it might take his mind off how cold he was. "Are you passing through on your way to Ulmaria, or is there something else here for you?"

"I believe so. I really want Trike to be happy." Todd answered. "Oh, okay."
Sir was just how his parents taught him to call people. It was just a habit really and he saw it as being polite to them. Course some people didn't like it as they pointed out.
"Well, I am traveling. I'm trying to prove to my sister I can have pokemon, keep them happy, an go on a adventure. I know it's not really like the usual trainer but I'm not trying to be the best, I'm just trying to have fun." Todd answered though he took note of the egg in their arms. "What do you think is in the egg?"

Jordan was listening intently to Todd, and remained silent as he talked about his hopes of having fun on his journey as a Pokemon trainer and proving to his sister that he could do it. The researcher identified somewhat with his story, making it easy to empathize with him. While he could assume his relationship with his older sister was better than the one young Mr. Baxter was describing he had with his own sibling, Bellamy still knew what it meant to have a chip on your shoulder. "Well," he would start up again, "I'm wishing you the best on your journey then."
When the youngster directed a question at the egg he held in his hands, Bellamy couldn't help but give a sigh. "Like, I said, I'm no breeder. I'm not entirely sure what could be in this egg. Based on what I know though, I would guess..." he started to say something, but then stopped with a modest smile. "On second thought, I won't finish that statement. I don't like to make guesses.
"But my other Pokemon have all seen the egg and seem to be fond of it, so that must be a good sign, right?" He looked up at Todd from the egg, hoping the kid wouldn't press the question further. He didn't like seeming so un-knowledgeable when he, in fact, considered himself to know a lot. Just not on Pokemon eggs.

"Surprises are good." Todd said, showing that he was fine with the man not giving a guess as to what was in the egg. "Thanks, I'm sure with Trike and whatever pokemon we met it'll be a blast."
Todd was feeling a bit better despite now that he was talking with someone who had a bit more experience in this area. Course it would still be interesting to see just what was in that egg. Maybe he could get one from a shop or something?
"It most likely is." Todd agreed on.

Not having much left to say to the young man before him, Bellamy began planning his exit. He wasn't sure how to slip away from this interaction, but from his perspective it was on its last leg anyway. The boy kept asking him questions he was ill-equipped to supply answers to, and he doubted his personal abilities to keep up a lively discussion with someone so much younger than he was.
It was almost funny. From everything he had ever heard from colleagues, those who considered themselves to be professional trainers - you know, the types who sought gym badges and aspired to enter the League - were always looking for a battle. Todd, on the other seemed, seemed to only care about coffee and Pokemon eggs. Maybe he had chosen the wrong profession, and would've made a fine researcher who studied Pokemon breeding. But that was neither here nor there.
"If there's nothing else," he said, adjusting the egg in his arms to shift its weight, "then maybe I should get moving. I'd hoped to make a few more pages worth of field observations before the day's end." If Baxter was going to get Jordan to stay, now would be the time.
