EVOLUTION
EXP & CAPTURE
EXP & CAPTURE
Capturing
- Capture rates will vary between balls, just like in the games. A Poké Ball will have a 70% capture rate, a Great Ball will have an 80% capture rate and an Ultra Ball will have a 90% capture rate. Heal Balls and Luxury Balls will have the same capture rate as a Poké Ball, set at 70%.
- In order to attempt the capture of a Pokémon, you must battle it. Whether you defeat it completely or just weaken it considerably is up to you; it will not change the capture rate.
- Using a ball before a battle is officially initiated, ie your Pokémon does not attack, will yield the same capture rates as above; however, do not abuse this and use it as a lazy route, or it will get changed. This is just to keep things easy(easier, anyways) to remember for when mods roll capture attempts.
- Please put in your OOC/notes of your post if you attempted to capture, and what kind of ball was used.
*Note: One-hitting a Pokémon, unless it's an OHKO, is not going to be very likely, no matter the level. Hitting a Pokémon once with one move, despite type effectiveness, would not work in-game very well. Although health and status ailments are not taken into consideration for capture rate, please be realistic about capturing.
Experience
- The amount it takes for a Pokémon to level up is their level times three. A level one Pokémon will take 3 exp to level up, a level two Pokémon will take another 6 exp, a level three Pokémon will take another 9 exp, and so on.
- Experience gained is determined by the level of the opposing Pokémon. The level of the Pokémon being fought will be the amount of exp granted, whether it's just a defeat or you attempt to capture it. The exception to this rule is if it is a Boss Battle, in which case, exp gained is doubled.
- If you throw a ball before attacking, no exp will be gained.
Evolution
- As with anything Pokémon-related, evolution is inevitable. How you do it is up to you. It's preferred if you RP it out, instead of just withdrawing a Charmander, and then suddenly next post you have a Charmeleon fighting with no mention of the evolution. At the very least, put an OOC note.
- Pokémon who require specific items to evolve will still require those items.
- Pokémon who evolve via Happiness will have to be in a Luxury Ball and reach a reasonable level.
- Pokémon who evolve when they require specific stats, whether it be for battle or beauty (like Feebas), can evolve at a reasonable level; if you're unsure what a reasonable level would be, ask a mod or admin.
- Pokémon who evolve via trading will still have to be traded to evolve. This can be done OOC or IC. If you cannot find anyone to trad with, fret not; there will be a board for doing so.
- Pokémon who evolve via time of day will need to be in an area that is explicitly so. Glaceon can only be achieved in Arctium City Park in Winter. Leafeon can evolve in Viscia Forest. For Umbreon/Espeon, specify time of day in your first post in the thread, and keep it consistent.
- Pokémon who evolve weirdly will just evolve at level 32.
