It had been at least two days since Nayru had arrived in the Obstina Region, and already she had begun to feel nervous. Having arrived at Professor Hickory's Ranch, the silver haired female clutched at the hem of her skirt tightly as her ocean blue eyes darted at her surroundings, taking a few deep breaths to help calm her nerves. She had little experience with Pokemon, she knew. Her parents and older brother had more encounters with them than she ever did, and she admired her family for it. But now that she was alone, Nayru had little idea on what to do. With a heavy sigh, she leaned against a tree and looked up at the clear blue sky, biting her lip lightly. She started thinking about her brother, Alex, and how he knew what to say whenever she was anxious. Loneliness crept up in her heart, her arms wrapping around herself.

"I miss you, big brother..." She whispered, looking down at her feet briefly. Soon, she started walking again, reaching the building and knocked on the door, glancing at her surroundings again as she waited. It was definitely beautiful here, she thought to herself. A small smile creased her glossy pink lips as she slowly calmed herself down, feeling a little more confident.

Hello, Hello!

The snow was cold, but the day was bright, and Professor Hickory had been awake since the crack of dawn. Now she sat in the front room of her ranch, cradling a cup of coffee in her hands and string at a blank computer screen. She had a feeling that she'd see at least one trainer looking for a starter today; days like these always seemed to bring them.

As if on cue, there was a knock at the door. Hickory set her coffee down, breathed a deep sigh, and then put on the friendliest smile she could muster. She stood up and walked briskly to the door, revealing a young woman who looked a bit nervous but was smiling. Yes, she was coming for her starter, all right. Hickory had grown adept at reading the body language of trainers, and this is how most of them acted when they first met Hickory. Really, she didn't understand the fuss. She was just a Professor; it wasn't all that special.

Then again, she supposed, they were probably nervous because they were about to meet the Pokémon that would hopefully accompany them for the rest of their lives, not because they were meeting her. The thought dampened her spirits a bit; she wished she was influential enough that young trainers felt both trepidation and joy at the thought of meeting her. But that day would have to wait.

Even though she wasn't feeling excellent, Hickory kept a cheerful expression on her face as she gestured for the trainer to come in.

"Hello, young lady! I'm Professor Hickory, as you may have guessed. I'm assuming you're here for your starter?" Without waiting for an answer, she pushed the machine's lever with a flourish; it neatly deposited three Poké Balls, which quickly popped open, revealing the Pokémon inside.
