You make me smile.
It was brisk on that day. More so than the average winter day. The temperature had been dropping the past few days, and Cameron had to admit, while he enjoyed nature and all of its glorious magnificence, the coldest season of the year was not exactly his cup of tea. The air stung his nose every time he inhaled, and seemingly froze the back of his throat when he dared breathe through his mouth. He wasn't exactly sure why he wanted to receive his starter Pokemon so early in the morning; in the back of his head, he figured he wanted to spend as much time adventuring with it on the first day of receiving it as possible. He simply hoped his Pokemon would grow to love him, as he knew he would grow to love it. Cameron already had the correct mentality going into receiving his starter, as he had no true preference as to what he preferred. It's not like he was going to be disappointed with whatever the professor was going to lay on the table before him.
Before Cameron even knew it, he was standing in front of the lab, with his hand on the door. It was at that moment that he began to develop butterflies in his stomach. His face became flush, though he did not know it. Second thoughts ran rampant through his head.

'What if it doesn't like me? What it's I'm not meant to have a companion?'
It didn't take long to coax himself in the building however. He knew in his heart that that was what he was meant to do. He was meant to bond with a Pokemon, just as he did people, and create new experiences with it. He was meant to share its joy, its pain, and learn in the process. Besides, the Pokemon was likely going to be as nervous as he was. The step he was about to take would be a large one in both of their lives.
