 Night had fallen. As Alexis made her way out of the forest and into the meadow-like Route 1, the only sounds she could hear were the regular crunching of her steps on the snowy ground. Most wild Pokemon had long gone to sleep by now, leaving the area with an eerie silence. Surprisingly enough, Alexis appreciated the quiet. She took in the ambiance of the environment, appreciating the rare silence. She really haven't had anything to complain about on her journey so far. Training her starter Pokemon was going fairly well and she had already found a second member of her team. The recently caught Zigzagoon was lying dormant in its PokeBall, while Torchic scampered along behind its Trainer, becoming sleepier and sleepier as the pair kept on walking. The egg inside Alexis's backpack gave a slight rattle - a lucky find, it was coming closer and closer to hatching. Alexis and Torchic continued their strong along the path, the former hoping to get some more training done, and the latter just wanting to take a break.

The Nidoran was rather large for its species, and it looked even larger with all of its spikes raised menacingly. With an enraged expression on its face, it attempted to attack the Pansage using Scratch, but Torchic obstructed it and was hurt instead. Growling, the poison pin Pokemon prepared to fight. Torchic and Alexis seemingly had no other choice but to battle it and defend the other, injured Pokemon - and partake in a valuable training opportunity in the process.
"Torchic, use Ember," Alexis stated plainly. Already Pokemon training was becoming second nature to her. The chick Pokemon hit the Nidoran with a burst of flames, The Nidoran cried out in pain from the solid hit, but quickly responded by using another Scratch attack on Torchic. Torchic responded by scratching the Nidoran back, prompting yet another Scratch from the poison Pokemon. After the two grappled for a few minutes, Torchic finally finished the Nidoran off with a solid Ember, leaving it passed out under the brush. Exhausted, Torchic hopped back to its Trainer, hoping that it could get some well-deserved rest.
Alexis was holding the Pansage in her arms, examining its condition. It had been poisoned and critically injured and was barely holding on. If she wasn't taken to a Pokemon Center within a few hours... well, it wouldn't be a pretty sight. Alexis pulled out a PokeBall from her bag and held it close to Pansage. A red light beamed out of it and took the Pansage in to become a member of her party.
Alexis looked down at Torchic, hints of concern began to show on her usually stoic face. "Torchic, let's try to get out of here as soon as possible," she said to her Pokemon, returning him to his ball and clipping him and Pansage to her belt. Hopefully she wouldn't have any other delays as she tried to head to the next city.

A snake Pokemon had crawled out of the underbrush, rattling its tail loudly. Alexis's recent experiences with poison-type Pokemon had taught her not to underestimate any of them. She picked up a PokeBall from her belt, shouting, "Zigzagoon, go!" The raccoon Pokemon emerged from its ball with a burst of red light, shaking its tail. From the moment it saw the Ekans, it knew that now would be its time to fight.
"Zigzagoon, use Tail Whip, then attack," Alexis commanded. The Pokemon waved its tail cutely, bringing the snake Pokemon's guard down. It then charged towards it with a Tackle attack, but the Ekans was quick enough to dodge. It slithered around Zigzagoon and used Wrap, tightening its grip around the Pokemon. The Zigzagoon managed to break free by releasing another Tackle attack, knocking the Ekans back. The Ekans appeared to be gravely hurt, but it was still able to Leer at Zigzagoon, intimidating it and lowering its defenses. With another Tackle, however, the Zigzagoon was able to finish off the snake.
