It‘s time to turn the page “The sun has set, now night is falling, never again to hear the calling- The sun has set upon the golden age.” "Nice place... It'd be even better if I had my usual crew, but..."Jahangir groaned as he stood in the middle of the road leading to the building atop the hill. All he had to his name was a silver bag that seemed more like a wineskin with a few pouches, and dyed a nice maroon. Of course, he had his clothes- freshly washed and pressed before departing his ship. That was one awkward moment. A huge steel ship decided to ease up into the harbor town and unload a terrifying shipment of oak barrels to a few small stores scattered about the area. Nearly every local turned their heads and watched as the silver-gray pirate waved off his butler and made way to where he was now. Honestly, it was normal to him, but awkward in the fact he was alone. Every shipment was the same. Jay would depart the ship with his crew of four and greet the locals, offering a free bottle of wine to the mayor or whoever held a similar title. His crew would entertain themselves by playing with the children. Yet he had no Beedrill at his side. There was no Eelektross floating around and giving rides to the kids. There was no Honchkrow trying to mimic the people talking, and there was no Mightyena to be cuddled by the elders. To put it simply, his father took them from him, and all in the hopes he'd focus on the family business and forget his dreams of exploring the world beneath the waves. They were locked up and probably being used as guards at the estate, but the very act and the following thoughts just set a fire to Jay's heart. Even now, as his eyes looked back down the road to Calitha and beyond, he wanted to stare his father dead in the eyes and tell him to walk the plank. No. At the advice of Oliver, he instead took another wineskin and followed the additional words of the locals. "Y'know, you should visit the Ranch. If you plan on going from city to town and beyond, you'd do well to get a new partner from Hickory."If there was one rule that anyone should follow, it would be to listen and check out what a local has to say. Even if they're lying, curiosity never really killed anyone. And so Jay turned around, held tight to his present, and walked until a door stood in his way. Upon opening it, machines decorated the room. Some were mobile and working, but others were silent. It felt like the engine room of his vessel, but at the same time, it wasn't. There wasn't any desire to look about, so with an empty hand turned to a fist, Jay stepped back to the door and knocked thrice- each one louder than the last. "Excuse me? I'm looking for a Ms. Hickory; I've got a present and a question for her!"

And I Said Hello! Hello, Hello!
"I'm coming; I'm coming!" Professor Hickory raced down the stairs, her hair in disarray. She had been tending to a young Meowth; it was quite a curious thing, and wasted no time in attacking her hair when her back was turned. She had only just managed to wrestle it off when the loud knocks shook the frame of the house.
She stopped short in surprise when she saw the man who was standing in the doorway. He was tall, almost impossibly so: Hickory thought he was easily one of the tallest people she had ever seen.
"I'm Professor Hickory. And you are...?" she asked, making an attempt to smooth down her hair. This man must be a newcomer to town; otherwise, she would have heard about him. Gossip had a way of reaching Hickory's ranch.
"What's this about a gift? And a question?" she added, leaning against her desk and waving him into the room, though she kept a wary eye on him. He was far older and more capable of most of the people she had met - most people who came to get their starters were only in their teens - and she thought she had a right to be suspicious. When an intimidating man let himself into your ranch without really revealing his intentions, one couldn't help but wonder.
(Jahangir Kieffer III I'm assuming that his question is going to be about starters, so I'll roll yours after your next post!)

It‘s time to turn the page “The sun has set, now night is falling, never again to hear the calling- The sun has set upon the golden age.” Well this was a strange surprise. He never heard the echoes of his own knocks; his mind was a little focused on delivering the wineskin and meeting this Professor Hickory. To be totally honest, he was about to ask if this brunette girl was the daughter of said Professor. That was to be the case had he not been cut off mid-sentence in mid-thought by the most curious of replies. "I'm sorry, but are you- "I'm Professor Hickory. And you are...?"He was shocked. Stunned, even. A step back proved that. The wineskin under his arm was slipping and caught his attention. He stumbled an apology and took a moment to hold the article in both hands as she continued on, asking about himself and why he was here. A deep breath and one hand raised to cover his mouth as he cleared his throat. "I'm Jahangir Kieffer of Kieffer and Sons. I'm a wine-barrel maker, salesman and wannabe pirate; I love the sea. Uh, apologies...
I'm here in Obstina on a... vacation of sorts, but I decided to meet the important people and personally deliver a free skin before heading back to town." You don't look old enough to drink, really. He held up the wineskin and set it down on the desk the woman was leaning on. There were papers everywhere, but none of them were given a second glance. "I'm also here because one of the locals said I'd have a better time with my own Pokemon from your Ranch. Y'see, I'd normally have my own crew with me, but they're back home in Hoenn."He was starting to talk too much. After taking a step away, he took a deep breath and rubbed the back of his neck out of a fit of nervousness. If Oliver were at his side, he'd be making tea with honey and preparing a bath for Jay. While such a thing was appreciated, he didn't really need to. "My question is this; could you help me out and set me up with a Pokemon? I don't know much about this place, but if the folks in town are serious about your place, I'd do well to check it out in full."

Professor Hickory raised an eyebrow. A pirate, huh? Well, that certainly seemed fitting. He seemed pleasant enough, though. He had apologized - what for, she didn't really know - and that was always a good thing, she figured.
She stared at the item he had set down on her desk. A wineskin? Considering what Jahangir had said, she assumed it was alcohol of some sort. She wasn't really a drinker; it interfered with her work. But she wasn't the type to turn down gifts, and she imagined she could find someone who would be happy to take it off her hands. So, while she raised an eyebrow at this rather unorthodox present, she made no comment.
He said something about his reasons for coming to the Ranch, and at one point he mentioned Pokémon. Honestly, Hickory tuned this part out: she heard this sort of speech often enough, though most visitors usually didn't talk about their pirate crew.
She waited patiently until he was done. "Well, Mr. Kieffer, I have good news for you," she said with a grin. "You've come to the right place. Just step on over to this machine here -" she gestured to the bulky piece of apparatus - "and we'll see what we can do!"
Hickory didn't actually wait for him to step over. As soon as the words left her mouth, she gave the lever a great heave, and threw her arms up triumphantly as three Poké Balls cascaded out. She was being far too dramatic, but she was in a good mood: it wasn't often that someone so very strange came to your Ranch asking for a Pokémon!
The three Poké Balls quivered, and then ejected the Pokémon that were waiting inside.

It‘s time to turn the page “The sun has set, now night is falling, never again to hear the calling- The sun has set upon the golden age.” Passion. Some attribute it to fire, but water has that same similarity. Intensity can be found in the flowing and rocking waves; the drips of water that douse oneself as they hold onto the wheel of their ship and brave the storm. If there's no passion in such an action, then there was really no need for Jay to have apologized. Even looking at a glass of water gets his sea-legs ready to go. Sooner or later he'll be tasting that same brine but with a little kick to it. He was free now, or at least for a few weeks. Sooner or later his father would arrive and seek him out, but so what? He was thirty-two and his dad was at least double that. A vacation and a trip down under? Paradise, father or not. He wasn't his only child either; there were twin girls and another boy. They were fully capable of keeping this ship floating if desired. If not, they could get themselves a kid and teach them while they continued to learn. But kids were a problem. Jahangir's brief thought was interrupted by another strange string of words. "Well, Mr. Kieffer, I have good news for you. You've come to the right place. Just step on over to this machine here -" "I beg your pardon?" "and we'll see what we can do!" She reached for a lever that wasn't there before. Or maybe it was and it didn't seem like it. Honestly, the machines in this room were unfamiliar to someone who worked alongside machinery themselves. Engines, thermometers, gears, pistons, consoles... Then again, not all machines are meant to be seen. Maybe his attention was too focused, and even more-so when three red and white spheres were shown at the climax of the lever's descent. Jahangir held his waist, pushing his jacket back as he leaned forward to look at each item. "I was expecting-" The spheres popped open and revealed three distinct creatures, two of which the pirate had rarely seen on his trips. He didn't stumble back. He did shoot up and felt his eyes widen. "... an actual tour of the ranch itself. This is kinda random, but I am impressed..."The leftmost creature caught Jahangir's eyes; a Poliwag. They were pretty common back home and their final stages were used as workers and helpers for making wine and storing it. Poliwhirls and Poliwraths were given the task of loading barrels onto ships if human counterparts called in sick or didn't show up. Politoed had the best of it; they helped in the brewing process at the plant in Lilycove. While such a specimen had two unique abilities and evolutions, they weren't exactly travel companions in Jay's eyes. The middle was known as a Buizel to the Sinnoh natives. Floatzel were pretty much lifeguards of the rivers and ponds about the area. Some even patrolled the beaches. Jay could swim and fend for himself, really. Sure, Pokemon were nasty and territorial, but common sense took effect. If it growls, back off. Finally, his eyes fell onto the third selection on the right. Jahangir leaned in, his eyes narrowing to near slits as he held his knees. He was mentally scratching his own brain as he tried to recall the name of the creature. The other two were probably exchanging looks with Hickory but, as he stood back and crossed his arms again, he turned his head towards her- his eyes still on the little penguin. "I've heard this guy is pretty rare in Sinnoh, and twice that elsewhere. I can't remember their name, but I know what they're capable of. The trident-headed stage is arguably unique among Water-types; boasting a hide that's equivalent to steel and able to pierce through icebergs easily with their wings.
They're pretty prideful, too."Honestly, I can relate to that. If I'm gonna be walking around and delivering more wineskins, I'm gonna need to double up my protection. Hell, I can protect this little guy if he's okay with coming along.
Yeah, he'll do. He pointed a finger and lowered it to the small penguin, scratching the middle of his forehead. "If he's cool with it, I'll show him around."
