Heatwave coming (mod)

When the brush around them rustled, causing Lunick to pause and Sear's ears to twitch. Though it was very clear just a few seconds later that they had stumbled into a horde of stantler! The normal type pokemon all looked at the human and made a sound, though one was very...odd looking. It's fur was green instead of brownish. Lunick vaguely recalled an article he read some time ago, something that some pokemon could have a different coloration an while rare these pokemon were dubbed Shinies. Course he currently had a problem to deal with. With two pokemon's abilities being Intimidate, Sear's attack dropped quite a bit.

"Alright Sear, let's see if we can do this." Lunick started, causing Sear to jump down onto the ground facing the first stantler. "Use Scratch."

Sear sprang at the first stantler, landing his sharp claws against the normal type pokemon. Though since it was a normal type, using a normal type move didn't have that great of a effect on it. The stantler retaliated with a tackle, landing the blow against Sear as the fire type wasn't fast enough to dodge the move while it attempted to pull back. The next normal looking Stantler joined the battle, giving a harsh glare an lowering Sear's defenses. The shiny stantler came forwards, frisking the fire type down to find a item at all but found nothing, they attempted to use Leer as well but Sear manage to avoid looking at em during it. THe next stantler attempted to use Me First however due to it's fellow Stanler having attacked but using Leer, it failed. The final Stantler followed this move and it ended up failing for the same reason.

This was going to be a long an hard battle as Sear only knew scratch and leer, no moves of a different type. Biting his lip as he tried to think of something, Sear notice this and took things into it's own paws. Using Leer on the second to last Stantler, the harsh glare lowered it's defenses however it didn't seem to be much of a fighter an fled the battle, in fact the second stantler fled as well!! Leaving only three left,the one that Sear had attacked first, the shiny one, and the last one. The first stantler; having been the one Sear attacked in the beginning charged forward using Tackle, the blow landed and Lunick snapped out of his uncertainty. Right now, Sear needed him more than anything, even if this was a unfair fight, he still had to do something!

Sear was pushed back by the move, a good bit of damage dealt by the enemy pokemon. The shiny Stantler used Extrasensory though Sear jumped to the side just in time to avoided, the remaining stantler used leer. Lowering Sear's defenses once more.

"Give them another scratch!" Lunick said.

Sear ran forward with it's claws outstretched, landing a hard blow to the first stantler causing it to faint. Thus this left only two of them, however the last stantler seeing how the stronger one ha just been beaten, ran off. Thus leaving only one. The shiny stantler use extrasensory an the move hit Sear rather hard, causing the fire type to stagger back. Seeing there wasn't much of a window left to try it, Lunick reached into his pocket for a pokeball but waited.

"Once more Sear, you can do this!" Lunick said, Sear rose up and rushed forward once more.

The scratch landed on the stantler an even did a decent amount of damage. Before the stantler could attack, Lunick threw the pokeball an watched it shake about on the ground.

(I wasn't sure if Horde battles here would work as they did in the game. Sorry if I did this wrong.)

Seeing the pokemon getting away was fine, he had something more important to worry about. Bending down, Lunick took a potion from his bad and Sear came over to him.

"Here ya go pal, sorry about freezing up on ya for a few moments." Lunick apologized as he healed Sear. "Things'll be better down the road a bit."

With that, most of Sear's health was returned and the two started on their way again. What came was something he should've expected. A little girl having spied him, wanted to battle. Honestly this was something he would've liked to avoided but you couldn't avoid it when a trainer saw ya, for some reason they took it as a challenge of sorts. The first pokemon they sent out was a Flabebe, a fairy type pokemon from his understanding.

"Alright Sear use scratch." Lunick said causing the small monkey looking pokemon to go forward once more.

With his claws outstretched, Sear struck a solid blow to the Flabebe even though it still had plenty of health left. The little girl shouted for the fairy type to use vine whip, causing a vine to appear and swat Sear away. With it being a grass type move it didn't do much damage thankfully.

"Scratch again." Lunick instructed once Sear was back on their feet.

Thankfully landing the hit once more, Lunick knew luck wasn't going to favor them forever. The girl had her Flabebe use tackle and landed the hit. It still didn't do much but it did more than the vinewhip did. For now, he was debating on just what to do. To keep trying to weaken it to where the girl would have to switch to another pokemon or end the battle, or if he should run the risk of trying to lower it's defenses to make it easier for blows to hit stronger? The problem was no matter what he did, there was the risk of Sear getting even more hurt.

"Use Leer." Lunick said, deciding to take the risk for a single move.

Sear gave an intimidating glare the Flabebe, lowering it's defenses and the girl had it go on the attack. Having told it to use Fairy wind, a strong wind was blow towards Sear though the fire type was able to dodge just in time. Feeling a bit relieved but knowing the battle was far from over, he kept his thoughts focused on what was going on.

"Alright use Scratch." Lunick spoke up.

Sear darted forward and his claws struck the Flabebe hard enough to faint it. The girl wasn't too happy though she took out another pokeball and released a Chatot. Okay this was going to be really tricky seeing as how Sear was already hurt from the fight with Flabebe. Seeing as how it was the girl's turn, she had Chatot use Growl, lowering Sear's attack. That was something he didn't need but it was just a risk in battle.

"Scratch." Lunick said.

Even though Sear did it the same as they always did, the attack didn't land as the Chatot dodged. The girl ordered Peck and the parrot like bird struck a blow to Sear. At this point, Sear was nearing just a little under half health. Choosing to risk it for just a little longer, Lunick took a deep breathe and exhaled.

"Use Scratch again." Lunick told Sear.

Sear darted forward, landing it's claws against the annoying bird pokemon that had been squawking nonsense the whole time. Though Lunick didn't noticed till it made a loud squawk. The girl had her Chatot use growl once more. A tad thankful that it wasn't a damage dealing move despite it still being a bad thing, Lunick relaxed a little bit. Shouting the same command again, Sear used scratch and the blow landed though took away less health than it had been so far. It be fine so long as they could just chip away like this and nothing go wrong. The girl had the Chatot use growl again, lowering Sear's attack strength once more. However Lunick just had Sear use Scratch again, striking a blow to the bird. The Girl seemed found of the growl attack now for some reason, having the Chatot use Growl again and lowered Sear's attack further. Considering Sear only had two moves, he assumed the girl's Chatot only had two as well. So Scratch was yet again the move that Lunick had Sear used and the attack landed thankfully. It shouldn't take too much longer now.

This seemed to make the girl change how she was doing this, ordering her chatot to use peck. The bird struck Sear on the top of his head, making his health now in the orange as well. Lunick risked it long enough. Reaching into his bag, he called Sear back to him though used another potion on his firey team mate. With this, Sear was back out and greeted with the girl's Chatot using growl. Ordering for Scratch as usual, Sear rushed forward and struck the bird with sharp claws. The Chatot staggered a bit showing it's lower health though the girl had it use peck, the move landed though Lunick ordered for Sear to use scratch and with that it was over as the Chatot had fainted.

Minus 2 potions.

Having won the battle, lunick attempted to console the girl. He congratulated her on a good battle and that they did have him in a rough sport for a few moments. She seemed happy and skipped away. Caring Sear in his arms now, he knew they had to be close to getting out. He was rather eager to see how the next route would go after a visit to the pokemon Center though it seemed he still would have a few battles before then. A Kecleon had shown up right on the path an had glanced their way. The pokemon didn't really do anything to Sear made a sound at it. This caused the pokemon to turn invisible! For a few moments, Lunick took careful steps to try and avoid stepping on it if it had moved toward them. However he soon felt his fedora being stolen off his head!

"Hey!" Lunick said as he watched his hate float away. "Come back here."

It seems they were going to take a detour for now. Chasing after the normal type while holding on Sear, Lunick reached with a spare hand and took out Silver's pokeball. Tossing it into the air, the steel type appeared and let out a cry.

"Silver, use Peck at where my hat is!" Lunick told her.

The skarmory made a sound an took off, easily spying the 'floating' hat. Diving down, she struck the pokemon with a good blow. This caused the Kecleon to make a sound as he reappeared, clearly startled by being attacked while still holding the hat though it's type switched to that of flying due to the peck and it's ability. It quickly retaliated with Shadow Sneak, sending a shadow at Silver and doing damage. Final able to stop running, Lunick paused an sighed. He really didn't care if the hat got damaged, he just didn't see why the pokemon wanted it. Though a battle had started nonetheless over it, if he wanted it back he was going to have to battle for it.

"Peck again Silver." Lunick instructed.

Silver dove forward and landed the blow on the wild pokemon's head, though it did less damage due to the Kecleon's type switch. The kecleon shook it's head for a moment though it leaped at Silver using Scratch, landing the attack on her hard feathery chest before landing on the ground.

"Give it a Leer." Lunick said, it didn't hurt to switch it up a little bit.

Giving the intimidating glare to the normal type, it's defenses fell. A useful thing considering it was the same type as the move that Silver use at the start of it. The Kecleon though stuck out it's tongue and licked Silver, clearly using the move Lick and doing a good bit of damage with it.

"One more peck." Lunick told her, Silver heeded the instructions and struck the pokemon's head.

The Kecleon used scratched on her, landing the blow and lowing her health to the yellow area. Though Lunick had taken a pokeball out and tossed it right after it had landed it's attack. Silver snatched the fedora up and took it back over to Lunick.

"Thanks." Lunick said.

While the capture failed, Lunick wasn't bummed out by it. The Kecleon had scurried away once it escaped the pokeball though he at least ha his hat back. Slowly heading back to the path a bidoof had come out of the bushes an stared up at them. A cute little thing in all honesty, he couldn't help but take note of that. Lunick didn't know why it was cute looking, it just was. Sear made a sound and waved to the Bidoof, though the pokemon slowly approached them and gave Lunick's boot a sniff. Despite having shown a kind personality at first, the Bidoof went over to Silver and threw a tackle at her!! The move hit and Silver staggered back. Another thing to detour him from going back to the path it seemed. Returning Silver to her pokeball to avoid more damage done to her, he took out Topper's pokeball an released the seedot. Topper landed on the ground though he dodged the tackle.

"Use False swipe." Lunick instructed.

Topper moved forward to swing down on the bidoof though the normal type had dodged the attack and retaliated with another tackle. Striking a blow to Topper.

"It's alright, try again. False swipe." Lunick encouraged.

Charging forward, Topper dealt the strong blow an the Bidoof's health went very down.The pokemon was clearly dazed as it struggled to stay standing. Taking out a pokeball, Lunick tossed a pokeball at it. Watching it shake about on the ground as Topper went back over to him.
